She doesn't remember
because she, never, was there.
Time and time again
circumstance upon circumstance
she would find herself
resembling a softly said "maybe"
and she adapted well
and it suited her better.
As many circles
as one would run around her
she would never feel surrounded
because
she would really not be there...

Thank you, Ahavati! I really appreciate your comment and it's a sharp one. There is a distinction between our experience in the world and the experience of the world and the narrator in the poem describes the character's experience in it.
