Gargoyle
You live in castles high above
An overlooked guardian you watch
As passersby twirl graceful circles around each other
And lights flare up in the distance
Kind enough to lend light to a tired sky
The sun is fading tucked in by the moon
For it is much wiser than you
Higher and higher but never high enough
Through colored lense they peer
To them the world is bright
Filled with the promise of many tomorrows
Of many laughs and and many sorrows
For the people of the ground
But you remain alone
High above to watch untouched by their joys
Watching wishing for the ground and it's freedoms
The lights burn warm and cheerful but leave you cold
The night is the only one who sings lullabies for you
Until you crawl back through the screenless window
And disappear to tuck yourself in
Sleep quiet little guardian
An overlooked guardian you watch
As passersby twirl graceful circles around each other
And lights flare up in the distance
Kind enough to lend light to a tired sky
The sun is fading tucked in by the moon
For it is much wiser than you
Higher and higher but never high enough
Through colored lense they peer
To them the world is bright
Filled with the promise of many tomorrows
Of many laughs and and many sorrows
For the people of the ground
But you remain alone
High above to watch untouched by their joys
Watching wishing for the ground and it's freedoms
The lights burn warm and cheerful but leave you cold
The night is the only one who sings lullabies for you
Until you crawl back through the screenless window
And disappear to tuck yourself in
Sleep quiet little guardian
