He Doesn't Deserve One
Fifty-eight dead
and perhaps it's not done
all at the hands
crazy man with his guns
Nearly 500 more
wounded and bleeding
for no other reason
than he was seething
Thousands are scarred
never being the same
while others point fingers
at who is to blame
Politicians and like
actor/actresses too
jump on their soap box
spilling words in a slew
But, to those such as I
it's clear from the start
Damn near the whole world's
lost touch with it's heart

Seems all one has to do is turn on the TV or glance at a newspaper (well, web site now) to find such tragedies anymore and the nations in which they occur are becoming more varied by the day. And now we shall await the "Copycat" event by others seeking notoriety.
The only bright spot is that they have stopped mentioning the assailant's name often and perhaps that will give some pause before acting out.
I'm glad you stopped and we had this exchange, only wish it was for a happier write.

There has been much tragedy as of late.
All of which seems meaningless and heartless.
For me, through it all, I haven’t, i can’t and I won’t loose heart.
I will never loose hope.
I loved this write and is so spot on !!!

I do not remember his name either, nor will I search for it. Yet sadly, it will live on in the minds of those who suffered at his hands for rest of their lives. Thank you Oxy, for the visit and comment

I was so taken by you picking those lines, I have edited that stanza to read, "But, to those such as I", instead of, "But, it all seems to me".

That was completely inadvertent on my part...I just really identify with that passage. I do like the modification...it seems to flow better. Thanks for being such an awesome poet.
