Thanks for the Memories
Burned bright and fast
Scorched the halls of every place we’ve been
Casting smoky shadows
Scarring hearts and minds
Foolishly we played our games
No thought of consequence
Shared dreams and lofty goals
Made our promises we couldn’t commit
Disappointment came right for us
Flames that once captivated
Raged and consumed the landscape
A bountiful harvest of ash
Our place in history marked
Permanently to recall fondly or otherwise
A chapter in an evolving story
Scorched the halls of every place we’ve been
Casting smoky shadows
Scarring hearts and minds
Foolishly we played our games
No thought of consequence
Shared dreams and lofty goals
Made our promises we couldn’t commit
Disappointment came right for us
Flames that once captivated
Raged and consumed the landscape
A bountiful harvest of ash
Our place in history marked
Permanently to recall fondly or otherwise
A chapter in an evolving story

When all is said and done, and the lights go out....all we really have are our memories. Be them good or bad. Loved this. Nicely done. <3

We build castles that sometimes wash away with the tide. And all that remains is the ruins of sand left behind. And the memories. But those memories also bring lessons. Sift through the sand and find the lesson. So that the memory can be less painful. Beautiful write, Zach

This is why I love poetry. Total strangers can evoke emotions in one one another. Such a strange power. Very nice write.
