The Ocean
The breeze tasted of salted candy
softly caressing my face
the tide like an old friend
rushing in to greet me.
The gulls over head calling
to a cloud peppered sky
children playing making
sand castles in the sand.
I walk the beach
collecting sea shells
I put them to my ear listening intently
to the voyages they've made.
Across the oceans deep and wide
they tell me of their secret life
deep in the wild blue yonder
making me dream of life
as a creature of the sea.
softly caressing my face
the tide like an old friend
rushing in to greet me.
The gulls over head calling
to a cloud peppered sky
children playing making
sand castles in the sand.
I walk the beach
collecting sea shells
I put them to my ear listening intently
to the voyages they've made.
Across the oceans deep and wide
they tell me of their secret life
deep in the wild blue yonder
making me dream of life
as a creature of the sea.
