I like
the mall on Saturdays
floppy eared dogs
the power of light at my command
that empty parking space
unexpected mail from friends
a new word in the dictionary
the noise bumble bees make
in their impossible flight
my team doing well
not watching the X factor on TV
buy one get one free - and giving one away
sweeping the last of the leaves
grapes and tiramisu
your unexpected embrace
water running from the tap
and warm air
sliding down the mountain like a cloak.
 
You on the other hand
would like not to feel
the empty weight
of the swollen belly
that wakes you
as you twist and turn in your sleep
