Dull Pencil

This dull pencil still writes-
I know there is much more inside-
Much more to learn of its insights-
Unsharpened, it seems to hide-

Paper, burned out by the day-
Folded scroll, to hide the fray-
Words untold, lost to decay-
Once written bold and on display-
- - -
This dull pencil, broke in two-
Still capable to write anew-
Of thoughts and fears, and dreams come true-
It le(a)d me to this view-

Mind that wields dull pencil, sharp-
It thrusts inside to pour its heart-
To bleed upon the page it marks-
Stained page too often of discard-
- - -
This dull pencil held by me-
Knows not, the art, calligraphy-
It writes real light, flowing carefree-
Leaving behind only debris-

The written, down upon the page-
Might well be inked, there's no erase-
Pinned down upon the tides of change-
Dull pencil writes away...
