America

America the beautiful, where art thou?
You're looking contentious and very vile
It's becoming difficult to even crack a smile
All this hate has turned it into a static frown

My heart aches for some semblance of civility
But racism's feces seems to stretch into infinity
Dividing and conquering turning us all into enemies
Many will continue to ignore this as if they can't see

The intercourse the system has had with their minds has made them blind
Contributing to the cataclysmic state of the Union that has us all in a bind
My pessimistic thoughts convince me that mutual peace we'll never find
There appears to be an abundance of political leaders without strong spines

Guess they've decided to take a knee instead of being stand up women and men
Aren't they supposed to work for all the people and bring pandemics to an end?
Instead of perpetuating the status quo that lead to the death of sister Korryn
Was Dr. John Henrik Clarke right when he stated that we truly have no friends?
