A DOVE'S PONDERING

I walked along the pond wondering, wandering
gazing at her hazy distant form, wistfully pondering
what it was draped upon her feathered form
which stirred within me these new feelings born

Unanswered queries before I had neither wing nor leg
My father had left when I was still merely an egg
abandoned in a nest made of hard twigs and grass
nestled beneath my mother's warm feathered ass

So there was no one around to explain certain things
as to why the males sing to the ladies in spring
and why her fluttering wings stirred in a soft tingling
bringing heat to my cloaca's new awakening

I had never before felt a passion of this kind
I just wanted to come up and hug her from behind
and I did - with flailing wings -  in a newly found dance
A euphoric epiphany discovered by chance

I suddenly understood the meaning of love
through the flickering feathers of my newly found dove
Undulating wings spread out in new zen
within her heavenly flight, never seen again
