Desire me dangerous

Captive are we who are cast aside by mountains,
crudely chiseled from stone, borrowing shadows.
With callow stains upon my cheeks, I cradle my illicit desires.
Cacti loom like green monuments in the valley of the sun.

I'm the girl who casts a tall shadow
upon those majestic mountains, so beautiful and so cruel.
My hands & eyes journey far to hunt an elusive lover;
I envy the heat of a painted sunrise for touching what I cannot.

Pieces of his heart lie in the dust
where a soldier has walked.
He has stories inside that go beyond metaphor.
He wants me - to write me; steal what I am.
A woman made of tears & passion, like any woman;
that makes us dangerous to love.
