When We Danced the Waltz
The bright sun slowly rising from across the horizon
A new day beginning to unveil and show itself
The crisp air was chilly the birds beginning to sing
A beautiful day approaching intertwined with strong emotions
She slowly walked along the trail away from her cabin
She hugged herself with the quilt wrapped around her shoulders
Walking into the field of long grass she stared ahead
Melancholic eyes to match the melancholic expression on her face
She turned her head to look across the field
He was approaching her through the field with grace and need
Her eyes becoming hopeful she locked a gaze with his eyes full of desire
What felt like a lifetime together they walked closer to one another
His pace was hastened yet dignity and gentlemanly grace slowed him
She walked slightly faster with hesitance yet need
His hands gripped hers as soon as they drew close to one another
Tilting her head up she looked into his eyes silently
She stared at herself through the mirror…day till evening
Through the mirror she watched him approach her from a distance
He held an envelope in his hands and locked a gaze with her
“I write no longer of my defenses rather your offences.”
He stepped forward placing the envelope on the table
Turning he walked away from her closing the door behind him
She approached the table picking up the envelope
Unsealing it she began to read the letter her eyes watering
He brought her delicate hands to his lips kissing them
“Your hands were cold when we danced the Waltz as they are now.”
She smiled softly and nodded her head. “Yes,” she whispered
He lowered her hands only to brush a stray strand of hair behind her ear
As she looked into his eyes all words escaped her
He tilted his head downward never breaking their gaze
Grasping her hands once more his gaze became more intense
“I will help you let down your defenses if only you shall let me.”
She looked away briefly and smiled before locking their gaze once more
He patiently awaited the answer he longed to hear
“I cannot be hurt yet I feel you shall do no such thing,” she said softly
He shook his head slowly. “I would never think such a thing.”
Her eyes longing she stepped closer gripping his hold on her hands
Tilting her head up she placed her soft lips on his gently
He let go of her hands as he parted his lips taking one step closer
His chest resting against hers he placed his hands on her velvet cheeks
He claimed her lips with his and began to gently kiss her lips
