slumber
i wrote a book, but you never gave it a look
i just tried some poems to get you hooked
i know half of the words i wrote
the other half i was in a slumber
i picked up the pen to help you understand
but i can't voice my expression
while i'm living in this depression
now we're in a recession
the liquor rotting my brain
but being sober i feel so plain
the rush had my spirits soaring like a plane
ah must this life dwell so much pain?
must this struggle cause so much sorrow?
as i try to live to see tomorrow
this pain, this pain, ah my heart in two
the moon lies in my eyes as it turns blue
maybe one day hopefully one day soon
i can see light from the other side
watch as the sorrow dies
but for now i pray i can climb out of this slumber.
