Reminiscing (Collab with Realist Critic)
(Dee Too Cold)
As I look back
Reminiscing on how things used to be
Yet looking forward to things that could be
As I remember life was easier as a kid
Having fun and creating memories with my friends
Telling myself that everything was fun back then
But as always good things must come to an end
Wishing I could re-live those exciting times again
Yes it was a great time to be alive back then
What an interesting path
To see the cloths on the picnic tables laid out
And the adults and prominent adolescents hanging out
Families coming together to have a good time
Friends hosting parties to make vibes worth while
Letting our melanin soak up rays from the sunshine
Looking forward while leaving our inhibitions behind
Lessons were learned
Bridges were burned
Trust was earned
And love was yearned for
People were concerned
Loved ones returned
Bonds were created
Life stories were traded
Everyone who was alcoholic was beyond faded
Yes I still even remember the fun conversations
Good times happen for a good reason
Every summer feels like a second season
But things change
And times have changed
Moments are never the same
However life will never be the same
But I’m at a point in my life where I’m in a good position
Which is why I spend some of my days “Reminiscing”
(Realist Critic)
As I look back
Reminiscing on how things used to be
A young buck with a whole world to see
Born in the 90’s
Baggy jeans and Hip-hop
Late nights on the block
With my team we did that
I ain’t talking bout drugs
But the summer nights was dope
Playing man-hunt and nigga knock
Just being little knuckle heads
Wasn’t into no trouble
Just enjoying life with no regrets
As Age hit the pain hit
The pen went straight to the pad
Reminiscing was the way to keep my focus right
Remembering the good times
The laughing sessions that make your stomach hurt
When instead of Gun Fire to settle minor disputes
You put on them red gloves
Left jab right hook
Reminiscing about those friends
The ones that turned into enemies
Reminiscing about the fam
The one that deep in the ground
Reminiscing is therapy
Sometimes good sometimes bad
Whether pleasure or pain
I spend some of my days “Reminiscing”
As I look back
Reminiscing on how things used to be
Yet looking forward to things that could be
As I remember life was easier as a kid
Having fun and creating memories with my friends
Telling myself that everything was fun back then
But as always good things must come to an end
