SPLINTER IN THE HEART
I take your picture from the box
And rest it in my weary hands
It’s bringing memories to bear
So many what ifs and should haves
Are outweighed by promised tomorrows
I’ll make it up to you
I swear
But now I never can
I see you everyday in the mirror
And I can hear you even though you’re not there
Because I’ve never seen it more clearer
You’re gone
YOU’RE GONE
But I’m still here
Never meant to fail you so bad
I might’ve tried but not enough
Shattered myself to wish you back
But fate it seems to have deaf ears
Or perhaps it never cared at all
I’ll make it up to you
I swear
But now I never can
I see you everyday in the mirror
And I can hear you even though you’re not there
Because I’ve never seen it more clearer
You’re gone
YOU’RE GONE
But I’m still here
The splinter you left behind
Has worked its way deep in my heart
Ever since the day I stood
With our family beside the grave
I’ll make it up to you
I swear
But now I never can
I see you everyday in the mirror
And I can hear you even though you’re not there
Because I’ve never seen it more clearer
You’re gone
YOU’RE GONE
But I’m still here
So many stars in the sky
But I cannot seem to find you
Among so many I’ve lost
So, please, just shine brighter for me

Lord Hades, Frank...I know words at times may help but will not fully ease the pain which aches you...but these are mine for you anyway...one of them is on each shoulder, this is the reason you hear them...things said over the years or not said perhaps...but they are being heard now for a reason...know if you can hear them it is because their love for you and yours for them is eternal...in this world now and to greet you then...much love to you my dear friend...you have taken a piece of my heart tonight...I hope it brings you some comfort.
With much much love,

They are, if anything, eternal. Thank you, Sweet Sacrifice, for your kind words. They help more than you know.

Hades, our loved ones are never really gone from us--they live in a different place now where we can't physically see them until it's our own turns to go live there as well. Death is only a passage to the next phase of life, and that is where "faith" must take hold, or the belief that what you can't readily see, does indeed exist.
Live your life as if they were still here, because the really are still around you, but not in the earthly form that you were used to having in your life.
Chin up , remain hopeful in all things!
Love ML !

Deep down I am happy they are together again. It's what she wished for so long and it's selfish of me to wish otherwise. But I still do. Thank you, ML. Your support in invaluable to me.

Hades this ripped into my heart.. I can only imagine the hurt your feeling...
I am so happy you have Dup as an outlet,we all love you around these parts, I know i don't come visit much but know this. I do admire your writing and your kind hand you extend to our mutual friends.
Chin up, embraces the sadness write about it, like you so eloquently displayed today.
Sometimes we have to feel it. i understand that. In fact I hate hugs when I'm sad, i like to feel whats killing me.
Great expression thanks for sharing Hades much love sent your way.

She passed in December of last year and he passed in November of '94. She held on so long and refused to move on. He was her one true love. Not many people have that. Thank you, Zazzles. You are loved and admired as well. We are all one big family around here. Thank you for the hugs.

"I’ll make it up to you
I swear
But now I never can "
the repetition of these 3 lines is absolutely haunting. And I'm sure that anyone can relate.
Key to this thing is: don't look at death as a loss, look at it as part of the journey. Like getting off of one bus and into another. Just my two cents

I appreciate it, my friend. Never take the ones you love for granted. Tomorrow is not promised.

This hit me hard. I lost my dad several years ago and it never gets easier - just different. I can feel hurt in your words. This really consumed me with sadness. While i can't begin to say I know how you feel, I can say with all honesty that my heart aches for you because I know the pain of losing someone so close. Beautiful thoughts you have put in ink...

Thank you for your kindness. I am sorry for the hurt but the hurt only reminds us of how much we loved. Thank you again.

Memories are a blessing and a curse but they are what keeps our dearly departed inside us.
