Thunderhead

There's just something about a storm
The beauty in the power
More magnificent in the cover of night

Pelting rain ricochets off of rooftops
Rushing through the downspout like a raging river

Winds carry mists to the skin
The cold moisture starts a shiver

Lightening captures picturesque landscapes
In a single moment that can't be replicated
The dark outline of the storm cloud's edges
Against whitest of light

Tree lines roll like hills of permeable rock
Letting beams through the leaves
Strikes appear as veins in tumultuous skies

And oh the thunder
That wonderful boom of sonic symphony
Rumbles through the land
Shaking the very earth upon which we stand

Serenity in chaos
