Fire and Water
Fire
This heat rages deep within us, wild and free.
We don’t know what surrounds us like a glove
Or what fuels it, or even what it could be.
How do we know for sure that this is love?
I want this to be love, I know you can tell,
But I want to make sure this will inspire
You to forever keep me under your spell.
Should we ever try to tame this fire?
Water
This spell flows deep within us, long and wide.
We don’t know what keeps us going up stream
Or where we’ll wind up, or if it’s worth the ride,
But we know we’ll keep swimming in this dream.
I want this to be our river, belonging to no other.
We’re stuck in the center of this giant teeter-totter,
Trying to climb off, but afraid of losing one another.
Maybe we should jump off and surrender to the water.
