Tattoos Of Life
***TRIGGER WARNING: this poem MAY be triggering to anyone suffering from selfharm.
Scars are the Tattoos of life.
We wear them for all to see.
As they bare the all telling stories of our lives.
Discoloration twines and winds across our skin, dancing whispers of our faults and sins.
So, let them stare as they gawk and peer
They'll never understand what's within,
what's buried deep beneath the marks spread so thin.
They see these blemishes and second guess our incisions.
Let them jump to their conclusions and accusations.
Let their eyes linger as their judgment becomes clear.
They will never understand the pain some people just can't share.
