Fire and Rain

He was like fire.
She was like rain.
They both harbored so much deep pain.
When the storm came
they danced
and sang to a melody all their own.
She tried to put him out while he chased her away,
but fire and rain -
they always stay.
The fire grew stronger as the rain fell softer.
He consumed everything he saw.
She wept with tears of brokenness as he came to a halt.
The rain fell harder and the fire grew dim.
He was drowning in her sorrow -
The sun came out.
Everything was new.
Fire and rain became sand.
