Silly Spiderweb

Spider web, you drown in the light
Unnatural but alluring, through your home is night
Your image has paused all answers to any questions
With you in mind, I can think of nothing to mention

But my teacher pauses, patient to wait
Wanting for an answer even if it’s late
But the image by the window has stolen my say
I want to laugh and cry, my instincts say I may

And eighteen eyes strike me down with their silence
But I’m afraid my speech may intend some defiance
And there I would sit, not making any sense
My face flushed, and my muscles tense

I stutter out a few words the mean nothing at all
My teacher looks disappointed picks on another to call
And my eyes draw back to what the spider spun
As tears come to my eyes, I wish for class to be done

I stifle a giggle, for this silly event
So much emotion for no sentiment
Teeth showing, and tears are streaming
My outside silent, my mind screaming

Maybe I should consider going back on my meds
Even if those pills make me feel like I’m dead
Perhaps it’s better than hysteria for something inane
I just can’t stand this feeling of insane
