Thunderstorm

Evening slinks in like an old dog.
Clouds drawn over the small town like a warm down comforter
Standing in a field, I watch as the clouds grow heavy
(Like playful lovers cuddling and giggling)

The slightest breeze brushes my cheek
Face turned up to the sky
I fill my lungs with the fresh smell of approaching rain
(As her cheek touches his, she breathes him in)

In the distance the sky faintly lights up
I feel the smile grow on my face
My eyes dance across the skies in anticipation
(Desire stirs within her belly)

Brighter flashes, followed by a deep rumbling
Under the open sky is where my soul “re-fuels”
The wind picks up and my skin ripples with goose-bumps
(His passionate embrace screams his hunger for her – and it delights her)

Lightning-bolt-fingers tickle the sky
The air saturated with charge
I hold my breath…. Waiting
(She feels him pressing, hard, against her)

I hear it first – soft patter of rain drops on the grass
Then the first cold drop on my shoulder
Trickles down the front of my chest
(His tongue traces a glistening path down her sensual curves)

I gasp as the droplets multiply
Faster, stinging my skin with splattered kisses
My hair drenched and clinging to my face and neck
(Their bodies no longer able to hide their lustful need)

Hands outstretched, catching every possible drop
My feet hugged by loose grass and droplets of wet earth
Cleansing my soul
(Their bodies dance rhythmically and in unison)

Bright blinding bolts grab the earth
Shaking the ground beneath my feet
My body alive and thrilled by the charge – I let out a squeal
(Their glistening bodies unite and quiver with explosive desire)

The earth now soaked and satisfied
The clouds quietly roll out over the ocean
To replenish and return later, I walk home
(Breathless lovers, lay smiling…. Prepared for round 2)
