Monkey see, monkey do,
Monkey screw and then unscrew
Monkeys slip their lock and chain
Never gonna be the same
Monkey see, monkeys hear
Monkey learns to show no fear
Monkeys learn to have new fun
Watching how to shoot a gun
Monkey hear, monkey speaks
Unlike the rat who only squeaks
Monkeys learn to shout out “No!”
Then discuss just where they'll go
Monkey speak, Monkey see
Nothing is entirely free
Monkeys initiate evil plan
Learned their evil straight from man
Monkey see, monkey do,
Monkeys sniffing Uhu glue
Monkeys killing just for fun
De-evolution has begun

that's why I moved to the middle of nowhere in Portugal some years ago - I'm amazed at the resilience of "the system" - years of quantitative easing to prop up the system will come home to roost with mega-inflation, then massive debt, then banks taking assets on defaulted loans (which is exactly their plan), then riots, then ... not pretty at all. But maybe I'm all wrong about it; I hope so for many people's sake. Now back to watering my spuds ...

Unfortunately I think you've got it right and current evidence from both Europe and the USA backs that up. Left and right wing fascism is definitely on the rise. It’s like "The Man" wants this civil upheaval, riots, violence and death. It’s like he wants things to become tribal, and have hate prevail – it is why I live in a remote Scottish island, far from the madding crowd :-) You water your spuds and I’ll prune my roses. For the time being we are both better off out of it. :-)

thank you David. Firstly, let me put out my views on the body/delivery of the poem, to me, this is as polished a poem as it gets. The beauty of this subject and this particular work is the array of meanings it holds for humanity. You wit and humor meld such flawlessly with the serious here, it is simply stunning. thank you so much, again you are too kind :-) I have a small number of poems I have written that I am truly proud of - this has become one of them. I think as a species we are in danger of completely losing our humanity - it's not that far away, I believe :-(

This displays the reason I think so highly of you.
Not only for it's structure and wording, but mostly for it truth and insight.
