Self Swap
It's creeping in and surrounding me
I can't ignore its presence
I've been trying to curb the feeling
Now it's clouding all my senses
I'm filled with deep sad emotion
That I can't do a thing about
It's not the kind that weighs me down
Just the kind I can't get out
I'd probably crawl into isolation
If it goes on any longer
Feeling alone with no connection to reach for
Loneliness just gets stronger
Wish I could travel through time
And become someone else
Switch places with anyone
Someone different than myself
I'd take any volunteer
It doesn't matter who you are
It doesn't matter what you've been through
Or if you're stuck in the twisted dark
Maybe I can light your way
Maybe you can light mine
Maybe we could use a break
A new heart, a new mind
We could learn each other's feelings
And have new lessons to take back
We could form deep understanding
A kind of closeness perhaps
So if you're up for a self swap
Let's try it through embrace
The warm welcome to a stranger
Into each other's space
If you hand me your troubles
I'll help make you into someone new
And I'll give you my sorrow
Trusting what your touch can do
Familiar people can destroy
As randomly as those unknown
One just hurts a little more
Because you truly believe they won't
So why cave to hesitation
At a 50/50 loss or gain
Where there's little expectation
And when dying's all the same
Equal power to kill each other
Equal power to heal
If you're ready then come closer
And let's seal the self swap deal
I can't ignore its presence
I've been trying to curb the feeling
Now it's clouding all my senses
I'm filled with deep sad emotion
That I can't do a thing about
It's not the kind that weighs me down
Just the kind I can't get out
