Dermaphoria
Her name is Desiree
Perhaps, though maybe I forgot
Before I saw the fireflies
Fed the coin into the slot
You dance behind the glass
With a pill upon the tongue
Sends chemical pricks of emotion
Like every love song sung
Black widows, double drop
Take me back to before
When Satan was the angel
Who just asked for more
The nightmare cockroaches scuttle
Their Giger antenna will betray
My thoughts and silent whispers
And every word that I say
The Feds are all just robots
Cheap suits disguise synthetic skin
Preaching I can cleanse my soul
Just confess my every sin
The breeze becomes a kiss
Winter memories of ex-lovers
The pill revealing everything
Pain or pleasure it discovers
Recollections made of smoke
My angel wears a black dress
Her fingertips leave vapour trails
Then vanish like a last caress
Now projector images are burning
Desert caustic I will pretend
Amidst fireflies, we will meet
Sunlight, wither for days on end
A nod to Craig Clevenger.
