Firstly, welcome to the DU :)
Reminds me of the phrase "if you scream in the forest, but there is nobody there to hear it, have you ever really screamed at all?" The title really ties in well with this short piece. I do enjoy the little pieces that communicate such wonderful thoughts.

It's a good question. It does ring in the silence of the night though, doesn't it?

Interesting question. Words are symbols (originally hieroglyphics) but they still need 'a receiver' as a reference point for them to be interpreted, made sense of, and have meaning - I guess.
