ORGANIC RESENTMENT (9-8-92, (remote end of East Beach, Galveston Island, Texas)
last nights
stormy tides
have cloaked
this open beach
with countless tons
of sargassum
seaweed
like one great
long amber
golden
feathered boa
strung out all
along the high
tide lines zone
in both directions
as far as my
eyes can see
yet nary
a baby blue crab
nor needlefish
can be found
or seen
clinging on anywhere
within its
impossibly tangled
translucent
brown filigrees
miles and miles
of doomed
shipwrecked remains
but where only
a disgusting profusion
of lifeless
human trash
could be found instead
deeply entrapped
entangled
within its beached
now dying realms
which made me
think as i
suddenly recalled
how you too
recently
abandoned ship
as my broken
heart sank
and my own
badly shattered
impossibly tangled
pathetic human
remains
washed up too
like all this
rotting seaweed
upon this very beach
where we first met
and fell in love
yet where now
with each successive
wave and tide
the cleansing surf
rolls in steadily
each day and night
to wash more
and more
of our once love
ever further away
from all my
memories
from all my
sunken
shipwrecked dreams
and hopes
but here to my
sudden dismay
just now
i was once again
reminded
that your
cold painful ghost
has still not
completely gone
from me nor
left me here just yet
for as i took a
piss on the sand
just now
and watched it
quickly sink in
i symbolically
recalled your
very similar
sudden
disappearance
when for weeks
you were both
here and there
with me
in every moment
every heartbeat
every breath
then just as
suddenly
in one fleeting
love blind
moment
you too like
my golden pisses
sudden
disappearance
were and are
from me now
likewise alas
sunk away
gone forever
sunk away
forever gone
