Things you can just tell by
Things you can just tell by...
the troubled look on her face.
All the hurt, accumulating disappointment.
To let down to let go.
Things you can just tell by...
how she is afraid of change, afraid of hope.
She knows not what she is seeking,
and the search seems pointless.
Things you can just tell by...
the aged look of her smile,
the hidden pain in her laugh.
She wonders if she has messed up too hard,
messed up too much.
Things you can just tell by...
The way she stumbles,
walking home by her lonesome
past sundown.
Wishing her father would have set
a better example of what a man
should be.
Things you can just tell by...
the sadness in her eyes
from the regret and frustration of
forgotten happiness.
Hope is just a word,
ones shes never seen but only heard.
Things you can just tell by...
how she lives in a fairy tale,
that she knows is naive and
keeps to herself.
The only sanctuary she holds
is in her mind,
and it has become her hell.
Things you can just tell by...
the way she looks around and wonders,
when did she lose her innocence?
Or, maybe who stole it from her
while she wasn't looking.
Things you can just tell by...
the way she holds herself.
She looks in the mirror and wonders,
"Do I gotta be like that?"
God Almightly, this cant be real.
She'll find her way,
on some path she is walking.
On some corner she is turning,
Some door she is opening...
The things you can just tell by,
the heart of a woman.
They say she will be alright,
but she is not sure.
Maybe one day she will ride off
into the sunset, headed west
on a wind of peace.
Maybe one day, she wont find herself
missing the feeling of being loved.
Somethings, you can just tell by...
the troubled look on her face.
All the hurt, accumulating disappointment.
To let down to let go.
Things you can just tell by...
how she is afraid of change, afraid of hope.
She knows not what she is seeking,
