"I love you " was always said
As he kissed me goodnight
Tucking me tightly in bed
As he turned out the light
He bought my very first car
Treated me like a princess
Hated my first boyfriend on sight
Knowing he wouldn't go far
Before walking me down the Isle
Looking at me he said
"You don't have to really do this "
Tearful, under my veil, I smile
By my side he stood
At my husband's grave
Keeping a brave face
Offering comfort
He didn't say a word or complain
We knew he was ill
Hesitantly we respected
Knowing he'd reject any question
His concern was for others
Up until his last days
Not to burden or impose
Leave a mark, make a difference
He did!

I am so sorry. May the peace and comfort you receive throught this unimaginable loss surpass the Love you shared here on earth.
A very lovely tribute he would undoubtedly be proud of.

Thank you. A few months have gone by and I am beginning to realize I knew very little about my father. He was a great parent...but that is what I knew. Talking with his friends, co-workers and peers, has shed a new light. He never bragged about his accomplishments. He was always just Dad. He earned metals and awards for his community work. I'm in awe - "Past President - During this time he was awarded the American Legion Friendship Award, Life Membership, Order for Service, and the highest honour, the Award of Merit."

Thank you so very much. I have learnt so much about my father in the past few months. I don't know if it was his Catholic upbringing but he was never prideful. He should have been. He had a grade 6 education, could read, not write, and he was the president of a regional housing for seniors. Won awards (never said a word).

I know how hard this must have been for you. A sweet song of love that
is for sure to reach him.

This is a strong and beautiful poem and touches me deeply. He must have been a wonderful person and father. He will live within your heart, soul and through your thoughts. Forever. It is a wonderful tribute to a man who raised and loved you. My thoughts are with you, forever_young.

Thank you. Your feedback means a great deal to me. The fact is, I was ignorant and never realized the effort it takes to put someone to rest that has an estate. I lost my husband at a very early age and we had very little. A life time of assets to pack, distribute, and reflect on.....each item was a memory. The smallest item would spark up a conversation and take minutes to hours to pack.

Life, an accumulation of bits and pieces that provide for the big picture. Gone isn't gone at all ...

Unfortunately, I saw my Dad's lives work broken down to boxes. Including the box his ashes are entrusted. A man. In every sense of the word. Giving, caring, loving, and above all, always strived to be better. I don't have the words to honour what he accomplished. This will be the first year he won't be standing side by side with his comrades laying a memorial reef.

Thank you Solomon Song.
Although my Dad has been gone for sometime now, he is still my inspiration and role model to be the best person I can and pursue happiness.
I hope you and those you love are safe and well during these strange times.
