fading

oh what a lucky being you are
that you swooped in
from 3000 miles
to caress the heart of my Persephone
my Muse
while you be Hades
and i the antithesis of Zeus
i must applaud you
from the cold dark cell where i am kept

i am only allowed glimpses of what you enjoy freely
while you swim in conversations where your eyes meet
laughter
joy
sharing sensual pleasures
you get to show her your heart in courting protocols
be the gift of roses and chocolates with your smiles and hellos
and grow the fire that is now ablaze

as you gallivant
and prune your lure
i savour the tiniest of her crumbs
left behind simply to keep me attendant
my mind soaked with her every word
dwelling on the SHE of her
a most magnificent mind whose heart now pumps with you
i can feel the glow
and it bakes me like desert heat

she knows what she wants
and your beak seems to fill the bill
i can only bow to both of your joys
and hope you will find the generosity to allow me to continue to adore her from afar
i pose no threat to you
i promise
but you now have your foot upon my oxygen
and while i would perfectly understand her pulling the cord
i beg that she doesn’t and that you do not seed the idea

i know that the more you and she become yourselves
and come together
that my relevance to her needs will dim

i accept whatever fate may bring
and certainly any choices made

know for now though
that she has an admirer
one who dearly wishes her to be happy
while my face turns red

you must certainly know of her intellect
you must be swollen by her beauty
and warmed by her pleasures
if not, allow me to remind you
do you know of her feet?
do you know how they must be massaged?
and how you must coddle her emotions
for they are delicate like lilies
blooming in twilight
do you know of her smile
and how she can cackle with friends
and dish out venom if necessary
but that she is a pleaser at heart
searching for that deserving soul to teach bliss to
a recipient to float on air from her gentle caress
and kinked evenings
to let her vixen-like wings wrap him in ecstasy
you lucky dog

make her laugh
make her days easy
and nights like Casablanca
and you will find in her an oasis
