Change Beneath the Equinox
Sitting in silence
Steeping in shades of blue
Stained into the edges,
Shadows of unwelcome truths
And remnants
Of fragments
Of the follies of youth
Brooding in the silver glow of mood.
Though not long since
Daylights reminiscence
Pressed her face
Against my window
Through the drapes,
Sculpting in light
Chiseled details
Of raised skin
And raw cheekbones;
Honesty screaming
Into the final sighs of twilight.
Change is all things ever do.
What are our motives for holding on?
Your heart is a liar
It makes you feel…
like the world is on fire,
that the end is near,
the stars falling from the sky
while we stare, wide-eyed;
mouths open
as we try
to catch the ashes of the past
on the tips of our trembling tongues.
Why do we crave
Uncertainty
While cowering
Beneath its crushing weight?
Our hopes
are but whispers
against
the
thunder
of broken hearts
and shattered dreams.
But there are stars beyond these walls,
Behind the rain clouds hides the moon,
Behind the gray, a sky of deep blue.
You climb the highest mountains tall
To find the most worthwhile views
That make you the better you.
