you used to interact freely  
but lately there seems to be an intermission  
perhaps there was an intervention  
of a reality check and subsequent balance  
that needed to be restored  
   
i get it  
   
can't be spread too thin in this era  
especially if you're thin skinned and empathetic    
might cause an emotional rupture  
crimson vulnerabilities can leave behind    
an unmistakable scent for the  
vampires who love to see you bleed for them  
   
but at this particular juncture in your life  
not many are worth your blood  
those 'familiar' puncture wounds remind you daily  
thus the newly arrived will be deemed friends  
until further notice
