Free Your Memory

17 months,
12 days,
One and a half hours,

She hoards the last
memories of him
inside a small box
of remembrances

Hoping if she closes
it tight, they'll remain
tethered dreams

Some days the thoughts
of him almost swallow
her whole,
she finds herself
desperately trying to
climb out

If only there was a
button to press
that could free her memory,
from the pain
of so much loss,

She knows deep down,
no matter the hurt,
that would
mean erasing all the good
parts too
