Pandora's Box

Love is like a fruit bowl
Many colors; each so sweet,
Vengeance is a lover
Who would rather go and cheat.

Honesty a canvas
Blank but filled with many shades,
Envy is a blood pool
Never meant for you to wade.

Pride is like a dark cloud
You can't touch; but it will rain,
Greed can be a staircase
Each step stabbing you with pain.

Happiness a rainbow
If you chase it it will flee,
Gratitude will fill you
As will honey for a bee.

Wrath can be a hammer
As it shatters bitter souls,
Jealousy will see your
Heart is raked across the coals.

Tolerance can be a bridge
Across a raging river,
Lust is all consuming
Needs more than you can give her.

Gluttony is like a sea
Depths plunge beyond the darkness,
Sloth can be a broken clock
Can't keep up with all the rest.

So many fates to choose
It could seem a paradox,
But what would one expect
When they've cracked Pandora's Box?
