Death Lesson
As her soul stares at her cold, dead body
sprawled carelessly in the gutter on the side of the road.
Watching her multiple stab wounds bleed
as the rain washes the blood through the stones.
She stares at her body unable to feel the rain,
unable to feel fear in the lonely darkness,
the blood? Why can't she feel the pain?
She can't feel the tears roll down her blood-stained cheek, her body motionless...
She thought why nobody came to her aid
when the robber stabbed her with the sharp blade.
She looked next to the body- there lay the knife
which got her thinking about her lost life.
The homeless beggar begging for money for bread
she ignored his pleas- she never cared!
The old lady on the side of the road
who offered her something or another- she just waked passed and ignored.
The hungry child digging through the garbage
she watched while quite content, eating her sandwich.
The sunburnt homeless man asking to spare fifty cents
she shamelessly flipped him off and told him to get common sense.
But when she begged for her life
there was no one to help her,
left alone with the robber with the knife
with no conscience and shame- like her.
She met her heartless match on the other end of the spectrum
and lost the fight, dumped in the stone pit
It dawned on her as her soul cried over her unmoving limbs:
maybe, after all, she deserved it...
