Real is rare
Real is rare, like life is rarely fair
truth is the first victim in war- ces’t la guerre
and sometimes life resembles pure warfare
yet don’t try to compare- your dream to that nightmare
where, veterans die due to lack of health care
while presidents lie, pretending to care
kids are constantly killed, but no one offers a prayer
guess it wasn’t Paris, so just let them perish
preoccupied with people’s praise, not sincere
real recognize real, so I see the pain you wear
and I swear- if I could- I’d relieve you from despair
stumbling, as you can barely bear- the burden
the constant hurtin’- only thing that is certain
the world is watching, better close the curtain
try to imagine if it was the other way around
try to imagine if the victim was not brown
I bet you would burn down the entire town
but for now--- I don’t hear you say a sound
don’t get me wrong, I don’t need you to mourn
but think of tomorrow’s kids, waiting to be born
just for how long, do you think this can go on
know it doesn’t solve shit to spit truth in a song
deeds, not words, define if you’re weak & strong
little girl, they fight for your right to not wear a veil
but here is the deal, hear what they don’t reveal
they don’t give a fuck about you and how you feel
driven by hate and fear, which they try to conceal
so when you are all alone, going through a hard ordeal
remember, snakes in disguise won’t help your heart heal
don’t give them trust, loyalty & love, because they steal
do it for themselves, so they can get the label, an ideal
fuck them all, pretentious people & politicians, just be real
don’t lose hope, we’ll all eventually have our last meal
lil’ boy, kindness is a good man’s greatest Achilles heel
