Peek In

Sailboats fill the blue as the sun
dips into a chartreuse night
I watch the seabirds guide
them home

On the grass strewn with yesterdays news
I carry my weight along with the pain
disrupting lucid thoughts of me
will this ever be through

Peek in
from under your parasail of perfection
claiming the pains only in my head
as I'm shivering on this concrete bed

Find me again where
broken homes and dreams
stuff a cardboard box
former friends scatter

But it doesn't matter now
like it mattered then
soft eyes greeting
sunrise wishes on first rays

Oh peek back in
a place you still belong
seabirds with floating feathers
scared scarred forever tired
