You sleep soundly
your hand upon my chest
making me aware of my own breathing
I lay wide awake
careful not to disturb you
Another sleepless night
I bask in your warmth
and feel alive as I lay very still
thinking of you and how you rescued me
from a the fate of a lonely man
I love you
always have
even before we met
I knew your soul
and you touched mine
I have been patiently waiting
in the shadows
between love and time
the only two things in this world
we don't control
But you found me
I'm no longer lost
and ready to live
I wish I had the words to tell you this
You sleep soundly
your hand upon my chest
making me aware of my own breathing
I lay wide awake
careful not to disturb you
Another sleepless night
I bask in your warmth
and feel alive as I lay very still
thinking of you and how you rescued me
from a the fate of a lonely man
I love you
always have
even before we met
I knew your soul
and you touched mine
I have been patiently waiting
in the shadows
between love and time
the only two things in this world
we don't control
But you found me
I'm no longer lost
and ready to live
I wish I had the words to tell you this
