Help
You helped me to the point
I didn’t need your help anymore
You became surplus to requirements
No longer an assistant offering help
I thought long and hard about your help
I helped you by taking your help
Help is most certainly a two way process
You got help from helping me
You received some satisfaction
My need for help bolstered your ego
It made you feel good about yourself
You helped me get physically better
You aided my mental health issues
You assisted my ego and self-esteem
You made me realise your help was pricey
And the cost you expected to exact
It is now me helping you understand
I no longer want this kind of help
I want to help you to understand
I am helping you disappear from my life
Now fuck off

One other thing you will realize David, you and everyone else is co-dependent. When the help of your helper wears off, you will both need each other's help all over again. It's just like the economy. Trade builds strong economic growth and cutting off our trade partners will have us falling back into the pit of foreclosures of the past. The things we take for granted in prosperous times, discarding them like winter coats in spring, will be needed once again after we fall...
Don't burn your bridges or you will also burn your britches...

you make a lot of sense, however sometimes emotions make you do things that defy logic :-)

"It is now me helping you understand
I no longer want this kind of help"
Help should be given freely by a kind heart, not by someone with ulterior motives that will try to hold it over your head later. Some help is selfish, as oxymoron as it sounds. This is a great write.

David I agree with Alyssa it shouldn't be emotionally taxing to you for someone to help.. I love the fierce stance you take towards this person who has been draining you..

There is such thing as too much help, one shouldn't feel obligated to accept help just to make someone else feel good. If you don't need it you have every right to reject it, if they take offense it's their issue. They need to realize that you're appreciative of what they did for you, to feel good about that and to let you be because you're ready to be without them now. But I guess when they are motivated by self interest and and not good intentions, such realizations will be tough.

I hate it also when a person helps then down the road insist on payback, the only thing strings are good for are for hanging. Much love and mad respect,

payback both financially and emotionally are sad indeed when requested - hard to take :-(
