Last Love Letter
she wrote to him,
until the ink ran dry
she needed to give herself closure
no matter how hard
she couldn't read the pages
her eyes became blurred
she folded them together
without a thought or word
letting her tongue glide
along the edge
she locked the note
inside an envelope
she wrote his name
on the outside
to send it to the stars,
she lit it on fire and
watched it drift afar

Jemac, You have painted so well this scene. I love the idea of writing the letter as a cathartic exercise only to set it ablaze. As if your words could somehow reassemble, Phoenix-like, in his presence.
That's why I am a poet so that I can say the things I should or could have said and to express express emotions I should or could have felt. Also to exercise my demons.
