Oblivious

On the first night
we stayed up  
watched the stars
talked of universal meanings
(on our balcony that became our
telescope to those distant thoughts)
what we knew from teachings
Drinking to love and the
here and now health
till the dawn broke with a yawn
finding us falling into bed
snuggled up drifting away
as people went about their holidays
Oblivious we were.
