sparks
Burning cinder, burning bright
Keep my heart aflame
Let not ash-smoke sting my eyes
Nor bare skin acid rain.
My spirit stokes the fire
With bark of endless youth
The moss, my heart's desire
The flint-spear, my mind's truth.
The seasons came and went
And though life seemed extinguished
Your words were a shelter tent
And your kiss, a cunning linguist --
Yet when the dark pervaded
And no more could I remember . . .
I felt assured what I knew to be
one last burning ember.
you remained
Warm and full of light
With love unrestrained,
Let passion ignite.
Keep my heart aflame
Let not ash-smoke sting my eyes
Nor bare skin acid rain.
My spirit stokes the fire
With bark of endless youth
The moss, my heart's desire
The flint-spear, my mind's truth.
The seasons came and went
And though life seemed extinguished
Your words were a shelter tent
And your kiss, a cunning linguist --
Yet when the dark pervaded
And no more could I remember . . .
I felt assured what I knew to be
one last burning ember.
you remained
Warm and full of light
With love unrestrained,
Let passion ignite.
