Sandpaper Tears
It's like a spike through the forehead
& my feathered lashes are not thick enough to shield me from the aftershocks
(it's left me shaken)
To know had I lie bleeding
You would have stepped around the pooling blood
just to save the mess from your shoes
Your eyes pierced me
Though you seemed to stare right through me
(like I was never even nothing)
(to you) I had become a transparent past, replaceable
(but once, you were my world)
Another broken step (misplaced)
on your search for something more
So I struggle to unstitch my questioning lips
But my tongue appears to be severed
Because why should I bother
When you never even cared to say goodbye
& my feathered lashes are not thick enough to shield me from the aftershocks
(it's left me shaken)
To know had I lie bleeding
You would have stepped around the pooling blood
just to save the mess from your shoes
Your eyes pierced me
Though you seemed to stare right through me
(like I was never even nothing)
(to you) I had become a transparent past, replaceable
(but once, you were my world)
Another broken step (misplaced)
on your search for something more
So I struggle to unstitch my questioning lips
But my tongue appears to be severed
Because why should I bother
When you never even cared to say goodbye
