In the Glade
There stands a rotten tree
Lost to both you and me.
Limbs are both dry and black,
The bark is loose and cracked.
There stands a rotten tree
Long dead as I can see.
Trunk now hollow of life
Growing with mold in rife.
There stands a rotten tree
No longer here to be.
With forgotten ancestors
Lost to the oppressor.
There stands a rotten tree
a long lost ancient plea.
Rings leave lost memories.
Life lived exemplary.
Lost to both you and me.
Limbs are both dry and black,
The bark is loose and cracked.
There stands a rotten tree
Long dead as I can see.
Trunk now hollow of life
Growing with mold in rife.
There stands a rotten tree
No longer here to be.
With forgotten ancestors
Lost to the oppressor.
There stands a rotten tree
a long lost ancient plea.
Rings leave lost memories.
Life lived exemplary.
