FORGETTING
Blinding lime
Skews emerald across cumulus nimbus
With loud claps and lightning
The sky is green the moon was green
This you will forget
To become someone
You ought to be
Or someone you ought not
Forgetting to be you
Till cognition's just a cog in a timepiece
And recognition a face in a mirror
Your voice-recorded-words mimicked
Words that boomerang and throat stick
Forgetting
You become the words that you eat
Forgetting to serve words that inspired
Inspired means the air you breath in
Forgetting who's air you became
Forgetting
That black and white keys unlock music
And sound wrong unless played together
And people are also like spiny fish vertebrae
Or fish scales that alight in the darkest waters
In deep waters caught with wire
All this you will forget
And what is forgotten ceases to exist
Like the first black pharaohs or their enemies
Who tamed wild horses
Skews emerald across cumulus nimbus
With loud claps and lightning
The sky is green the moon was green
This you will forget
To become someone
You ought to be
Or someone you ought not
Forgetting to be you
Till cognition's just a cog in a timepiece
And recognition a face in a mirror

cogs that spin beyond our grasp;
desiring to blossom when we forget who we were.
herald those distant kings...

Powerful. I love the opening stanza particularly. This really gives me pause to consider.
Circumstances of late have stripped me of my strength, or what I thought was strength, but perhaps I will emerge from this with true strength, born of endurance. I shall certainly emerge with greater perspective.

Thanks DC particularly for the considered comment - I'm not convinced that the strength of any of us amounts to a hill of beans in this crazy world, galaxy, universe etc but am pretty sure perception does - so that bodes well brother

Amen, Brother. We are born to experience and remember. Without each other, we never will. It takes one to trigger the memory of what has been forgotten - it takes our willingness to search it out.

yes we need to develop a consensus based on perception of what is actually there not our ego based reality

Your writing is wonderfully endowed, dear,
and very much enjoyed. I understand
you meaningful layers here. I was almost
that one who forgot.
Thank you

Wow Whale......this is brilliant......how hard it is to ignore memories of ones that have hurt you......I think at times we keep them alive although painful so we feel something......touching ink......purple luv & hugs xo :)

Re: Re. FORGETTING
yes how do we let go when the suffering has come to define us - this is a great test
It seems that pain is part of life - it keeps us safe without it we'd get burnt twice:) but suffering is something else may be here there can be a choice to feel the pain but divorce ourselves from the suffering - to accept the nail through the hand but forgive them for they know not what they do
Hard lesson that - thanks flowergirl - great to see you here:)

The things I want to forget never ceases
yet the forgotten I search long and hard
for
wishing to remember moments in time..

When forgotten at the most intrinsic levels, things are very truly nonexistent to us anymore. Very strong observation in that. Sadly, I'm prone to forgetting lots of things only to remember them at 2 in the morning. Important things though, I try to be always aware of those...and yet, we are all human. Very good write here. :)
