If only life were a piece of cake....
In my hands I hold
Two slices of cake
One for me one for you
One big one small…
Childishly, I look at them
Longingly
Delicate icing; soft cream; luscious jam…
Then I look at you
A warm smile; a tear in your eye
You know our friendship will win
Our love will be the stronger
I will do the right thing
I look down at the slices
Should I give you the bigger or smaller…
A moment to contemplate…
A minute to consider…
The clock ticks…
And the brown leaves shed from its wooden body…
I make my decision
I keep both for myself
And watch you drown in a sea of loss
Two slices of cake
One for me one for you
One big one small…
Childishly, I look at them
Longingly
Delicate icing; soft cream; luscious jam…
Then I look at you
A warm smile; a tear in your eye
You know our friendship will win
Our love will be the stronger
I will do the right thing
I look down at the slices
Should I give you the bigger or smaller…
A moment to contemplate…
A minute to consider…
The clock ticks…
And the brown leaves shed from its wooden body…
I make my decision
I keep both for myself
And watch you drown in a sea of loss
