Highly functioning
that’s my goal
moving through the world
one of the flock
providing the perfect view
what they want
weaving the needle and thread
by the will alone
climbing the tallest hills
another beyond
accumulating the grades
adding to dust
working harder than most
to start again
finding the next fix
to fill the gaps
stretching to another day
turn the page
wishing to touch another
simple reminder
feeling the passing breeze
alone again
seeking a finality
that’s my goal.
