chapter two: the beatings continue
Carrying a piece of
you
inside of
me,
like an anchor
wrapped tightly around my
ankle.
One that is
slowly
casting me to the bottom
of an unforgiving sea.
The waves
crashing upon a shore
littered
with forgotten words of
"I love you."
Broken pieces of glass
buried within the sand,
chipping away
at the heart we've shared.
Frantically ripping apart
the walls of our home,
to use as driftwood
required to save
myself
from you.
But the splinters in my hands
will still remain,
even once
the storm out at sea
has
long passed me by.
you
