Gravity's Calling

Gravity's calling, it's pulling me down
Dragging me back to the invisible ground
I'm free falling, through cobalt and white
Caressed by the touch of a thunderstorm sprite

I thought I was free, had escaped the somatic
Thought I was an airborne spirit and akin to nomadic
I was gone, I had passed into a whirlwind and its vertical thrust
Weightless, I was trace crashing through a cloud of angel dust

And I was so close to heaven and a thousand miles high
So I reached out and stretched, almost touching, but shy
And everywhere was a precipice, with a thread of an edge
That was slicker than ice on a frozen glass ledge

Just for a moment, a minute, an hour, I was there
But there was naught but what was and the cold solar glare
And now it's pulling me, pulling me down, gravity's calling
Dragging me back to the nowhere of forever free falling
