She's Beautiful

I look at her
She’s beautiful
Her chin is a sharp ski slope
that curves into her neck
and jutts back out again around her collar bones
Her shoulder bones are like wings
fanning out against her back
Her spine is a
perfectly carved
stone path
leading down to her hips
Her hips that have every
dip
slide
and curve that they should
You can see every piece
every crevasse
and every depression
Her body is like a map
You can see every bone
Defined perfectly against her smooth skin
Her eyes dance like the fire
Her smile shimmers like the stars
Her lips part like the sun sets
and as it rises

She’s beautiful

I look at myself

My skin bulges
It oozes
My breasts fall unevenly
My legs are filled with jelly
They jiggle with every step
My hips have been stuffed so tightly
They bulge out at my sides
My thighs are riddled with
stretch marks
and my skin stretches to reveal
the layers upon layers
of cellulite
packed on like icing on a cake
My stomach flops over the edge
of my pants
and presses against the bottoms of my
breasts when I sit down
It’s like a tumor
a sickly protuberance
My skin is riddled with
imperfections
Like a disease
warning everyone to
stay away

I look at myself

I look at her

And
She’s beautiful
