TREE OF DESPAIR
Deep of root
Yet gnarled and bare
There is no hope
Beneath the tree of despair
It casts no shadow
To protect from the sun
Slowly approached
But left on the run
Take your sorrow to
The silhouette on the hill
Approach with concern
Leave with ill will
From time eternal
It has stood like a thorn
Arrive with no malice
Depart full of scorn
Divert your gaze
From what lies all around
Bones from the past
Strewn on the ground
History has shown
And you better take care
For hell is truly
Beneath the tree of despair
Yet gnarled and bare
There is no hope
Beneath the tree of despair
It casts no shadow
To protect from the sun
Slowly approached
But left on the run
Take your sorrow to
The silhouette on the hill
Approach with concern
Leave with ill will
From time eternal
It has stood like a thorn
Arrive with no malice
Depart full of scorn
Divert your gaze
From what lies all around
Bones from the past
Strewn on the ground
History has shown
And you better take care
For hell is truly
Beneath the tree of despair
