A Creature of Resiliency
I knew as soon as you got
home, that the day was
unkind
nothing has ever pained
me more, than the way you
fell limp in my arms
when stepping through the
door / eyes in deep space/
not here
pulse faintly beating
a never-ending single tear
flowed, and i dared not
to take that release from
you
life is burning within you
Who or what has broke
into your heart this time?
So, i ran your bath water,
lifted you up and got in
the tub with you
handed you your journal
”here, just speak your soul
here”
then i gathered pieces of
you to carry to bed, still
limp/ still not yourself
but don’t worry, i’m
serving you, because I hate
seeing you like this and
you deserve it
waking up every hour on
the hour, as if they’re
weeping with you and I
so ive been clutching you
tightly / energy is off the
charts/ you've been making
things move inside me
and externally, like for
instance when the lights
flickered or when that chair
moved slightly
I said damn, really? its part
of your uniqueness, nothing
to be ashamed about
that's a part of you letting
me see how deep you truly
love
and your just hurt right now,
yet im looking at you sleeping
hoping you finally rest
but you're a beautiful
creature of resiliency. and
when you come back, youll
see this, we'll probably laugh
about it
